The Lag Factor

So as yiu may have noticed a lot of us haven’t been on BC2 recently.

Well, apart from holidays and other games eg. Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 and DCUO [thumbs up]!

Battlefield has been on a disgusting lag right now which is odd because it hasn’t been this bad before. Its like trying to kill people that teleport…. It’s effin’ annoying.

I did read that PC was getting an update (not sure what for) so maybe, just maybe we’ll get one too, to fix this problem. I hope.

”Its like trying to kill people that teleport….” good explanation m8.
It maybe to do with school holidays and all the kids jamming up the servers or you’re local telecom exchange that’s what I suspect frigin holidays Grrrrrrrrrr.

Indeed that’s how it feels, I get disconnected all the time also…
Usually with a high score just before the game ends…(breaks controller)

Installed new modem/router yesterday (service from provider, modem was having software problems)

Are you guys also port forwarding en wich NAT type do you have?

  3. Fabe says:

    Port forwarding?! NAT type?!
Bro, if you’re gonna talk to me please don’t talk Japanese. English please.

(Lol, i don’t know what they mean)

  4. yvdsvestas says:

lol, check the links it’s basically setting up a connection with your computer or console so you will have no problems with connecting to a server or talking with friends etc. It’s also depending on your internet connection, type of router etc.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_forwarding

    http://portforward.com/

a NAT is identified by the PS3 as being one of 3 types.

NAT 1: PS3 is directly connected to the internet
NAT 2: PS3 is correctly connected through a router to the internet
NAT 3: PS3 is incorrectly connected through a router to the internet

The PS3 will function under a NAT 3, but users may be blocked in online games, certain features of the PSN will not work, etc.

NAT type 1 or 2 are the correct ones to have.

It’s also wisely to give your PS3 a static ip., if you are going to use port forwarding. When you have port forwarding setup, your router forwards ports to an ip address that you specify. Without setting up a static ip address port forwarding will probably work when you initially set it up, but after restarting your PS3 it may get a different ip address. When this happens the ports will no longer be forwarded to your PS3’s ip address. So the port forwarding configuration will not work.

there’s a lot of info on the internet so check it out….. lol 😉

Lol… I’m using ethernet. All other games are fine except BC2

  6. yvdsvestas says:

Ethernet also uses portforward or not?
    So you got NAT 1…..

This doesn’t mean you will need this but for certain cases this will help to set up a good connection.

Got my 2 PS3’s hooked up wireless with NAT 2 also no problems….

  7. Golden says:

Could be testing the servers for Battlefield 3, IIRC this happened around the time of the MoH release aswell.

  8. BEGFM says:

I’m a complete cynic, I think it is all a cost saving exercise by Dice. My theory is that they are merging servers or something and transfering the ones not in use to BF3 for the new game. This means I end up on serviers that are in remote locations or something. I end up in so many games with players from all over europe and even USA compared to when I first started playing in the days when it was more localized.

That half of my excuse for getting pwn’d in most games the second part is lag switches, but thats another story!

MW is actually less laggy than BFBC2 believe it or not lol!
